GET YOUR BUZZERS READY: NINTENDO OF CANADA INVITES CANADIANS TO PARTICIPATE IN ‘A VERY MARIO TRIVIA EXPERIENCE’

The cross-Canada Mario themed trivia challenge is coming February 15; Event pre-registration opens today

VANCOUVER, B.C., February 5, 2021 - Question: which iconic hero is the topic of an upcoming trivia challenge? Answer: It’s-a me! Mario! This Family Day (February 15), Nintendo of Canada is inviting Canadians to participate in A Very Mario Trivia Experience - a free virtual event that will give families and fans the chance to join together to share their love for - and knowledge of - the Super Mario series and its mustachioed star.

During the 90-minute event, participants will be quizzed on key moments that have taken place over the history of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, which just commemorated its 35th anniversary, among other topics. Forty-five questions will cover everything from the first Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System to the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury game, which launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system on February 12, just ahead of the trivia event.

“We’re excited to give Canadians an all-new way to commemorate all things Mario,” said Dominic Gross, General Manager, Nintendo of Canada. “We know that the Super Mario franchise holds a special place in many fans’ lives, whether they grew up playing the games or first discovered the Mushroom Kingdom on Nintendo Switch. This is an experience that all generations of Mario fans can enjoy together.”

Canadian gaming experts and Mario masters Ajay Fry and Camille Salazar-Hadaway will host the event and lead participants through the custom quiz. The event will be live-broadcast through Zoom, and participants will use the Kwizzbit platform to enter their responses - from anywhere across the country.

A Very Mario Trivia Experience will take place on February 15th from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. EST. Spots are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis - pre-registration is now open at nintendo.ca/verymariotrivia.
